Event: 2025 Hokie Open – 4K
Location:Â Blacksburg, Va. (hosted by Virginia Tech)
The Lead:Â Fresh off their seventh-place effort at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships, the Hollins cross country team traveled to Blacksburg to compete over the 4K Buford Meredith Course. The Green and Gold continued to improve, finishing runner-up to James Madison while besting their rivals from Sweet Briar for the second consecutive meet.
Highlights & Notes Â
- The Hollins record book will see a new top time in the 4K when sophomore Madison Freideman bested the 17:25.4 time that Evelyn Foster posted in 2018 with a 10th place effort in a final time of 16:44.3.
- First year runner Elizabeth Lowry finished 13th with a time of 18:14.7 while Natalie Sullivan was two spots behind at 19:09.0.
- Competing in their first collegiate cross country meets, Anna Starman posted a time of 19:23.3 and finished just 1.7 seconds ahead of teammate Hayley Ponn.

Up Next:Â Hollins will look to carry their late season momentum into the 2025 NCAA South Region Championships. The regional meet will be held on November 15
th at Green Hill Park in Salem, Va.
