The Basics 
Event: 2026 EMU Heritage XC Invitational – 5K
Location: Harrisonburg, Va.

The Lead: The Hollins cross country team opened the 2026 season with a trip to Harrisonburg to compete at the EMU Heritage XC Invitational. The 5K race featured teams from Eastern Mennonite, James Madison, Southern Virginia, and Sweet Briar. The Green and Gold would finish fourth in their first competition of the season.

Highlights & Notes  

• Elizabeth Lowry set a collegiate 5K best when she finished the race in a time of 23:28.5 and secured 14^th place points.
• First Year Caroline Grinton was 13 seconds behind with a time of 23:41.0 followed closely by Natalie Sullivan and her collegiate best time of 23:49.6.
• Another first year, Sage Hall was next at 24:40.0 while fellow newcomer Alondra Reyes rounded out the scoring for HU with a finish of 27:30.3. Mallory Foster finished just outside the Hollins top five and earned 25^th place points.

Up Next: Hollins will be back in action next Friday, September 11^th, in Winchester for the Shenandoah University Twilight. The 5K race will take place at the Kernstown Battlefield.
