The Lead: Saturday marked the second and final day of the 2022 Captains Classic, hosted by Christopher Newport. Hollins would fall to Lewis & Clark in their early match and then the undefeated Juniata squad would send Hollins back to Roanoke after an 0-4 start.

Highlights 

• The Green and Gold fell to L&C 25-6, 25-18, 25-18.
• The Pioneers hit over 40% in an opening set that would see Hollins trail 13-4 at the net, a trend that continued throughout as Lewis & Clark enjoyed a 34-19 edge in kills at the net.  
• Sophia Maurer led HU with a team-high seven kills while Kenna Esquibel added four and Selena Wolf finished with three. Maurer added a pair of service aces with setter Zoe Brooks handing out 10 assists with a service ace and six digs.
• Zoe Miranda once again led teh back line with 14 digs and at the net, Faith Schaefer assisted on both Hollins blocks.
• HU fell to Juniata in the tournament finale.
• For her efforts over the weekend, Maurer was named to the 2022 Captains Classic All-Tournament team.

Up Next: Hollins will kick off Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on Tuesday with a trip to Bridgewater to face the Eagles.
