Hollins Sees Three Earn All Tournament Honors

Box Score

Raleigh, NC - Sunday afternoon marked the final day of the 2015 Meredith College Classic.  Hollins faced Salem College in hopes of picking up a tournament ending win after falling to Agnes Scott on Saturday.

A young, weary Hollins squad took the field against the Spirits playing their third game in the past five days.  The game started with the two teams feeling out one another, with neither team gaining any sort of an advantage.  At the 10 minute mark, Salem finally cracked through the Hollins defense and scored their first goal of the afternoon.  Hollins looked to rally, but could not sustain any significant time in the Spirits zone as the game remaind 1-0.  Salem started to wear down Hollins and took full advantage of their time in the offensive zone.  Tarryn Johnson scored the first of her three consecutive goals to give Salem the lead heading into the break.

Salem enjoyed a 15-1 cushion in first half shots and the Hollins defense could not duplicate their double-digit save effort from Saturday.  Trailing throughout the afternoon, Hollins could not get the offense on track and fell to their opponents from Winston-Salem, 10-0.

Audrey Haisley (Denver, CO) added five more saves, giving the sophomore 34 stops in her first three games of the season.

In addition to the Johnson hat trick, Salem received two goals and an assist from Sydney Priest.

Despite going 0-2 for the weekend, a trio of Hollins players earned All Tournament honors.  Junior Christina Havrila (Ruckersville, VA joined a pair of first year's Kally Saffer (Winston-Salem, NC) and Debra Henke (Glen Allen, VA) on the 12 player, All Tournament team.
