The Basics
Score: Hollins 0, Guilford 13
Records: Hollins 1-9-0 / 0-5-0 ODAC | Hornets 9-3-0 / 3-2-0 ODAC
The Lead: Shenandoah made the trip south to Roanoke for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) soccer match on a rainy and cold Saturday afternoon. With the effects of Hurricane Isaias hitting the Roanoke Valley, the match would be played in a steady rain. The Hornets used their deep bench to take advantage of a short-handed Hollins team, scoring four times in the opening 10 minutes of play. The scoring pace would slow but Shenandoah controlled much of the action throughout the afternoon on their way to an ODAC win.
Highlights
- The opening minutes of the match would see Shenandoah score four goals on six shots to seize control.
- Hollins could not find their footing on the offensive end of the field allowing the Hornets to take a big lead into the break.
- In the closing minutes of the match, Isabella Byron took the ball down the right side and was able to launch a shot on goal, but the scoring chance was turned aside by the SU keeper.
- Zoe Baxter got the start and recorded four saves. Leah Henry came in late in the first half and made four stops before Baxt came back in to play the second half.
