Regular Season Comes To An End

Box Score

Salem, VA - For the second time this week, the Hollins soccer team traveled to Salem to compete on the turf of Kerr field on the campus of Roanoke College.  Hollins hosted Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday due to an unplayable Moody field with a return trip to challenge the Maroons on Saturday afternoon.  The matchup with the Roanoke marked the final match of the 2015 regular season for Hollins.

The Maroons lifted a high shot over the goalkeeper's head to get the scoring started early in the match.  After another Roanoke goal at the 10 minute mark, Hollins found themselves down 2-0.  The home team continued to play on the Hollins end of the field throughout the first half and when the clock hit 00:00, Roanoke had built a 9-0 advantage.

The second half saw the Hollins offense enjoy a couple of scoring chances and dispite limiting their hosts to half the shots they attempted in the first half, Hollins couldn't find the back of the net.  Roanoke added 11 second half shots while holding Hollins to just four opportunities.  As the final horn sounded, Roanoke had put away their cross-town rivals and secured the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory, 15-0.

Mackenzie Roberts (Alton Bay, NH) led Hollins with two shots while Christina Havrila (Ruckersville, VA) and Kally Saffer (Winston-Salem, NC) added one shot apiece.  Goalkeeper Audrey Haisley (Ashburn, VA) was once again in net and recorded nine saves on the afternoon.

Kendall McCreary led the Maroons with a pair of goals as 14 different Roanoke players beat the Hollins defense.

With the end of the match today, the 2015 regular season comes to an end for a Hollins team that failed to earn a berth in the eight team, end of season, ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament.
