The Lead:Â The Hollins soccer team made the trip north to face Shenandoah on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets came into the matchup just outside the top-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) standings. The home standing Hornets struck first, scoring less than five minutes into the match. The Hollins defense stepped up but couldn't old off Shenandoah as the home team picked up the conference win, 9-0.
HighlightsÂ
- 4:18 after the opening kick, Shenandoah netted their fest goal of the afternoon. The Hollins defense would keep the Hornets off the board over the next 30+ minutes but SU would take advantage of a weary HU defense to score three more times before the break.
- Shenandoah would continue to play on the visitor's side of the field for the next 45 minutes on their way to picking up another ODAC win.
- The Hornets did not allow Hollins to get a shot on goal throughout the contest.
- Cat Bussani went the distance in net for the Green and Gold and recorded 22 saves, her highest total of the season and 40th in the past two matches.
Up Next:Â The regular season has just two weeks to go and Hollins will travel to Averett on Wednesday to kick off a three-match, 10-day stretch to end the 2023 regular season.
