Box Score Decatur, GA - For the second consecutive match, the Hollins soccer team took to road to start the 2016 season. After falling to Greensboro, Hollins took on Agnes Scott on Saturday morning looking to get into the win column against a Scotties team in hopes of running its' record to 2-0 on the season.
Hollins once again faced an uphill battle against an older and deeper squad. The match started with first-year Hollins keeper Hannah Armstrong recording seven consecutive saves. Agnes Scoot finally broke through the road team's defense and took a 1-0 advantage 11 minutes into the game. The first 45 minutes would see the home team launch 30 shots, 19 on net, against their guests. Armstrong registered 15 saves but is the Scotties that enjoyed a lead at the break, 4-0. The second half was a continued offensive onslaught by the home team. Hollins failed to get anything going towards the Agnes Scott goal and the home standing Scotties took another 26 shots in the Hollins zone. As the final horn sounded, Hollins had fallen to 0-2 with a 0-10 loss to Agnes Scott.
Armstrong recorded 24 stops, giving the first-year goal keeper 35 saves in two games and atop the Old Dominion Conference (ODAC) standings by more than 20 saves.
Ashlyn Edwards led Agnes Scott with three goals and Caitlynn Croft added a pair of scores with one assist. Nia Coates matched Corft with two goals and Iara Moran went the distance in net, registering her second win of the season.
Hollins will be back in action tomorrow morning when they face Wesleyan College at 11:00am.
