Make It Two In A Row For Hollins Soccer

Box Score

Washington, DC - After winning their first match of the season on Wednesday night, Hollins was back in action against Trinty DC on Saturday afternoon. The match was the fifth of a six game road trip to start the season for a young Hollins squad looking to win back to back games for the first time since October of 2013.

The first half was dominated by the defenses. Hollins was outshot by Trinity, 8-4, but the defense and goal keeper Hannah Armstrong kept the home team off the board by recording four saves. The second half was again played mostly in the middle of the field. Trinity once again put more shots toward the goal but Hollins took advantage of their opportunities. Hollins converted both her shots in the second 45 minutes to build a 2-0 lead. Trinity finally broke through the Hollins tough defense but it wasn't enough as Hollins came away with her second consecutive 2-1 victory.

The first Hollins goal came off a corner kick by Alexis McDonough. McDonough put the ball into the box and teammate Darien Cook did the rest netting her first goal of the season. Just six minutes later the duo was back on the attack and this time it was Cook setting up her first-year midfielder. Cook set up McDonough who sent the ball over the keepers head and into the back of the net for her second goal in as many games. The defense held the advantage with Armstrong registering six saves en route to her second win.

Hollins will look to make it three in a row and even its' record tomorrow when they travel to Chambersburg, PA to take on Wilson College.
