Box Score Ashland, VA -Sunday afternoon marked the make up date for a previously scheduled match with Randolph-Macon for a Hollins soccer team entering their final week of regular season play. The Yellow Jackets used a big first half to hand Hollins a road loss, 12-0.
Randolph-Macon used an early offensive outburst to seize control of the matchup. Meghan O'Neal scored two goals in a 30 second span in the game's opening minutes. Bridget Panas assisted on the second goal and four minutes later, Panas sent another pass from the right side, across the box to the far post for the waiting header from Lindsey Hall to add to the Yellow Jacket lead. After scoring a fourth goal on a corner kick, it became apparent that the Yellow Jacket offense was going to be too much for Hollins to withstand.
After giving up 11 first half goals, the Hollins defense started to push the Yellow Jackets away from the net and allowed the offense to gain possession and enjoy several scoring opportunities. Leading scorer Kally Saffer(Winston-Salem, NC)fired off five second half shots, four on the Randolph-Macon net. Saffer is currently ranked seventh in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) with 47 shots and her 23 shots on goal rank the first-year midfielder sixth in the league. Goalkeeper Audrey Haisley (Ashburn, VA) added nine more saves, giving the sophomore a conference leading 156 on the season, one save ahead of the keeper from Eastern Mennonite.
Hollins will host the Royals of EMU on Wednesday for their regular season home finale. The match is scheduled to start at 4:00pm on Moody Field.
