Hollins Continues Tough Home Schedule

Box Score

Roanoke, VA - For the second time in a week, Hollins played host to the best that the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) has to offer.  After hosting the defending ODAC and National Champions from Lynchburg College on last Wednesday, Hollins welcomed Washington and Lee to campus for a Tuesday afternoon matchup.  The Generals were picked 2nd in the 2015 Women's Soccer preseason poll after having just missed out on an NCAA apperance by being beaten, 1-0, by the Hornets in the 2014 conference championship game.

Washington and Lee wasted little time in getting the scoring started when Megan Engeland took a pass from Chandler Wicks and made a beautiful one touch shot to the back of the Hollins net.  Nine minutes later, the duo combined on another goal to give the visitors an early advantage.  The Generals outshot their hosts, 19-1 in the first half and enjoyed a 7-0 lead at intermission.  The second half saw Hollins leading scorer, Kally Saffer (Winston-Salem, NC) blast two shots on the W&L net, however the Generals keeper was up to the task making a pair of second half saves.  As the final horn sounded, Washington and Lee boarded the bus to Lexington with a 12-0 ODAC win.

Saffer led Hollins with five shots, three on goal.  Goalkeeper Audrey Haisley (Ashburn, VA) once again reached double-digits by recording 10 stops on the afternoon.

Meaghan Latella scored a hat trick for the Generals while Engeland and Erin Harvey added two goals apiece.  Netminder Shelbi Hendricks made three saves while picking up the win.

Hollins will be on the road this weekend when they travel to Randolph-Macon to make up a previously postponed match.  Hollins will face the Yellow Jackets on Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm.
