Box Score Emory, VA -The Hollins soccer team went on the road for a rare night game on Saturday when they traveled to Emory & Henry to play under the lights. The Wasps welcomed Hollins with each team looking to pick up their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win of the season.
Emory & Henry didn't allow Hollins to find their legs after the road trip by netting the game's first goal in the opening minute. The game slowed down a bit but with most of the first half action in the Hollins zone, the Wasps enjoyed an 8-0 lead at the break. The second half saw the Hollins defense step up but they were not able to keep the home team off the board. Hollins did have several good opportunities by controlling the ball and taking it deep into the E&H zone. Christina Havrila (Ruckersville, VA) was able to take advantage of one of Hollins chances and at the 60:00 minute mark, the junior took a pass from Kally Saffer (Winston-Salem, NC) and found the back of the Wasps net to put Hollins on the score board. However, Hollins couldn't stop their hosts as Emory & Henry picked up their first conference win of the season, 13-1.
Havrila scored Hollins lone goal of the night on her only shot. Goalkeeper Audrey Haisley (Ashburn, VA) made some fantastic saves en route to recording 14 stops.
Emory & Henry got two goals apiece from Daishi Dudley, Sarah Safrit, and Robbi Rodemann as 10 different Wasps scored on the evening.
Hollins will return home to face one of the ODAC's best when Washington and Lee comes to Roanoke on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00pm.
