Event: 2026 Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic
Location: Lynchburg, Va. (University of Lynchburg)
The Lead: The Hollins track & field team made the trip back to Lynchburg to compete at the two-day Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic hosted by the University of Lynchburg. A program record would fall over the meeting that would feature several personal best efforts and one of the top performances in the NCAA DIII this season.
Highlights & Notes
Track Events:
- 100m: Jazmine Patterson set a new Hollins outdoor record when she finished 9th with a record setting time of 12.62.
- 200m: Arianna Gomez (27.82), Kamani Watkins (28.58), and Ta'niya Gilliam (31.23) would each post a personal best time in the event.
- 400m: Patterson finished 7th in the race with a final time of 59.95.
- 800m: Evelyn Keefer recorded a time of 2:52.81.
- 1500m: Senior Sylvia Guillet posted a time of 5:54.34 and returned in the 3000m Steeplechase finishing in 16:01.85.
Field Events:
- Discus: Sanaa Belton (28.66m) finished one spot ahead of teammate Watkins (24.31m).
- Hammer Throw: Belton earned a top 10 finish (8th) with a throw of 40.05m. Ja'Nyla Green finished at a distance of 20.89m.
- Shot Put: Belton recorded her best individual finish, 7th, with a throw of 11.08m.
- Javelin: Watkins just missed a top 10 with a personal best effort of 20.74m.
- Long Jump: Gomez (5.16m) and Madison Freideman (4.77m) each recorded season bests with Autumn Dale finishing at 4.40m.
- Triple Jump: Gomez registered the 61st best Triple Jump in the NCAA DIII this season with a jump of 10.95m. Dale went for 9.90m just ahead of Watkins at 9.60m.
- High Jump: Freideman was 7th in the event with a height of 1.45m.
Up Next: Hollins will make another trip to the Hill City next week to compete at the WildCat Invite. The two-day meeting will be hosted by Randolph College on April 17
th and 18
th.
