The Basics
Event: Liberty Kickoff (December 4-5, 2025)
Location: Lynchburg, Va. (Liberty Indoor Track Complex)
The Lead: The Hollins track & field team opened the 2025-26 Indoor season with a trip to Lynchburg to compete at the Liberty Kickoff. The two-day meet was hosted by Liberty University at their Indoor Track Complex. Once again Hollins program records were set with several other top-10 efforts recorded in their season debut.
Highlights & Notes
Thursday Events:
- In the Long Jump, Hollins sent a trio of athletes into the field of almost 50 competitors. Arianna Gomez led the Green and Gold contingent with a top-30 jump of 4.85m, just missing her Indoor best of 4.92m. Kamani Watkins recorded a final jump of 4.73m in her first collegiate competition. Sophomore Madison Freideman was right behind her teammate with a distance of 4.50m.
- In the first outing of her senior campaign, accomplished Hollins thrower Sanaa Belton finished 14th overall at 13.72m in the Weight Throw. Belton finished with a distance of 12.25m in the same event one year ago.
Friday Events:
- The Friday events were delayed by two hours as the Lynchburg area received her first significant snow of the winter season.
- In the 5000m, first year Elizabeth Lowry set a new Hollins record in the event when she crossed the finish line in a time of 21:26.16 besting the old HU mark by over 1:15.
- In the 60m Hurdles, Lida Krodel posted a time of 11.06, just missing the Hollins program record of 10.96. Krodel would later return to the track, going 50.51 in the 300m, where she finished just ahead of Ameera Folwaczny at 51.71.
- Belton returned in the Finals of the Shot Put to break her own school record with a distance of 10.78m. Ja'Nyla Green finished with a throw of 8.03 as yet another first-year saw their first collegiate action.
- After winning the 400m at the 2025 ODAC Outdoor Championships, senior Jazmine Patterson posted a time of 8.27in the 60m, a top-10 time in Hollins program lore, in her first appearance on the track in her final Indoor campaign. Patterson finished 10th in the 400m with a time of 1:00.75.
- The 800m race would see Evelyn Keefer (2:53.97) and Natalie Sullivan (3:04.97) on the track for the first time this fall. While Watkins posted a time of 29.74 in the 200m.
- Freideman fished the High Jump with a bar of 1.48m. In the Triple Jump, Gomez finished 8th at 10.71m with Autumn Dale coming home 13th with a distance of 9.59m.
