The Lead: After their first home match of the season, the Hollins volleyball team was back on the road on Friday night. It marked the first of back-to-back Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matches in the Hill City. In the weekend opener against Randolph College, Hollins fell behind 1-0 before taking the second frame to even the match at 1-1. Each of the next two sets would be close but in each instance it would be the home standing Cats that would prevail on their way to a 3-1 home win over the Green and Gold.

Highlights 

• Randolph defeated Hollins 17-25, 25-20, 22-25, 20-25.
• The first set would be tied four times before Randolph used a 14-3 surge to take control. During the run, the home team scored 10 straight on their way to a lead.
• Hollins scored first and built a seven-point advantage in taking the second set to even the match.
• The final two sets would be extremely close with Randolph enjoying a 26-22 edge in kills and a 5-1 advantage in service aces to close out the match 3-1.
• Norah Madrey posted a final line of 10 kills, five digs, one block, and one service ace. Abby Neel added seven kills and three digs while Cassidy Henderson recorded six kills, seven digs, and a block.
• Laken Tingler (15) and Evelyn Harris (11) each registered double-digit assists with Meredith Crawley leading the defense with 19 digs.
• Bella Schultz finished the night with five kills, an assist, eight digs, and an ace. Aliyah Lightsey added five kills and no errors for a .417 hitting percentage.
