The Lead: Tuesday night marked the first time this season that the Hollins volleyball team defended home court as the hosted cross-town rival Roanoke College in the Main Gym. After starting the season with eight straight matches away from the friendly confines, the Green and Gold hosted the Maroons in their second Old Dominion Athletic conference (ODAC) match of the season. Hollins would enjoy leads to start each of the first three sets. However, in each frame, the visitors from Salem would rally to take the set and pick up the ODAC win, 3-0.

Highlights 

• Hollins fell to the Maroons 14-25, 21-25, 21-25.
• Hollins raced out to an early, 9-3, advantage thanks in part to three kills by senior Cassidy Henderson. An 18-0 Roanoke run would turn the tables and give the Marrons a 1-0 lead.
• In each of the next two sets, HU would once again enjoy an early edge, 3-1. Both instances would see Roanoke use runs, 5-0 and 6-0, to take back control of the action. Hollins would re-rally in both stanzas and the score was tied at 17-17 in the second and third sets. In the end it would be Roanoke taking each set by the identical score of 25-21 and earn a hard-fought sweep of Hollins.
• Henderson led the Hollins attack with nine kills while Aliyah Lightsey and Ava Willard each added four winners. First-years Abby Neel and Bella Schultz recorded three kills. Laken Tingler (12), Evelyn Harris (8) and Meredith Crawley (5) combined for 25 of the team's 29 assists.
• Norah Madrey had three blocks with Henderson adding a pair. Tingler not only led in assists but paced HU with 11 digs and two service aces. Neel and Schultz had eight digs and a service ace apiece.

Up Next: Hollins goes back on the road for back-to-back ODAC matches this weekend, starting with a trip to Randolph College on Friday night for a 6:30pm start with the WildCats.
