The Lead:Â The Hollins volleyball team took the court on Tuesday night with a three-match win streak in hand as they welcomed Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Averett. The Cougars came into the matchup with the same conference record as the Green and Gold with the winner moving up a spot in the ODAC standings. Hollins used a 15-7 kill advantage to take the opener. HU fell behind early in the second set before a rally would see Hollins on the brink of their second ODAC win in as many outings. Trailing 17-18, Hollins finished the night with an 8-1 run to secure their fourth straight win with a 3-0 sweep of the Cougars.

- Hollins defeated Averett 25-15, 25-21, 25-18.
- Three Cassidy Henderson kills sparked an 8-1 Hollins start to the match and a 1-0 lead. Trailing 13-8, Laken Tingler took the serve and helped Hollins to a 5-0 run to get even, then Bella Schultz served Hollins to another 5-0 run as HU took a 2-0 edge.
- Down one late in the third frame, Henderson recorded three of her match-high 13 kills aided by one of 10 Abby Neel kills to help Hollins close the night on an 8-1 surge.
- Henderson (13) and Neel (10) each recorded double digit kills as Hollins led that stat, 38-31. Norah Madrey and Annabelle Kemper each added five kills. Tingler (18), Evelyn Harris (10) and Meredith Crawley (6) combined for 34 assists.
- Aliyah Lightsey led the defense with four blocks while Henderson added three and Madrey finished with two. Schultz and Crawley each had 10 digs with Tingler, Schultz, Neel, and Crawley combined to serve 10 aces.
- With the win, Hollins is in the midst of her longest win streak, four, since the 2019 squad went on a six-match run.
- That 2019 team won two ODAC matches with the 2011 team registering three ODAC wins, the most since the volleyball came back to Hollins in 2010. The current two- match ODAC win streak is the first of its kind since the 2010 return.
