The Lead: After picking up their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference win in almost seven years, the Hollins volleyball team stepped out of conference to host a tri-match with Mid-Atlantic Christian and Johnson & Wales from Charlotte. It was Senior Day in the main gym and

Cassidy Henderson, and
Sydney Mitchell were celebrated before the opening match with the Mustangs. The Green and Gold used the energy from the gym to race out to an early lead and pull away from the Mustangs, picking up the non-conference win, 3-0. In the second match against Johnson & Wales, Hollins was able to use early runs in each of the three sets to take control and hold on to take all three sets for the 3-0 win. With the win over the Wildcats, Hollins capped a 3-0 week.
Highlights:Â
- Hollins defeated MACU 25-9, 25-18, 25-22, 25-9.
- Hollins hit at a .257 clip for the match and enjoyed a 34-11 advantage in kills.
- A 5-1 start followed by a 4-0 run allowed Hollins to take the opener. The second set would see Hollins in an early deficit before using a 7-0 surge to take control and a 2-0 advantage. With all the momentum on her side, HU started 7-1 and never looked back in winning for the second consecutive outing, 3-0.
- First years Bella Schultz and Annabelle Kemper each recorded nine kills. Abby Neel and Henderson chipped in four apiece. Laken Tingler had 13 assists and six service aces while Evelyn Harris handed out a match high 15 helpers.
- Schultz paced the back row with eight digs with Meredith Crawley adding six. Norah Madrey had three blocks, three kills, and four aces.
- Hollins bested Johnson & Wales 25-19, 25-20, 25-20.
- Trailing 10-9, Hollins scored five consecutive points to take a lead they would hold for a 1-0 advantage.
- Schultz helped Hollins to a 5-0 lead off her serve to start the set. JWU got to within three points on separate occasions, but HU would hold off their guests for a 2-0 lead. In the finale, Hollins used 9-2 run to pull away late for the sweep of the Wildcats.
- Henderson recorded a match-high 11 kills with Neel adding nine and Kemper finishing with seven. Tingler (16) and Harris (12) assisted on 28 of the team's 39 kills.
- Crawley once again led the team with 11 digs. And added six assists. Henderson and Aliyah Lightsey each registered four blocks while Tingler served two more aces to bring her season total to a team leading 20.
