The Lead: For the second time is an many games, the Hollins basketball team took the court against an unbeaten Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foe. A trip Bridgewater was next up on the schedule after hosting #6 Washington and Lee on Wednesday night. The Eagles raced out to a 7-0 lead before HU rallied to make it 12-9 after one period of play. The second frame belonged to the Bridgewater Defense as Hollins managed just five points and went to the locker room down by 17. The second half would see the Eagles defense control much of the action as Bridgewater stayed unbeaten in conference play with a 55-33 win.

Highlights
  • Down by five, Zaria Holden hit from close range to get the Green and Gold on the board. Gracie Huffard made it 8-7 only to see the Eagles score the next four points. Noelani Carter made a layup to pull to within 12-9 after 10 minutes of play.
  • Huffard scored off a pass from Sarah Morales to keep Hollins to within three points. However, the home team used a 13-2 run to take control of the game and a 31-14 advantage at the half.
  • The first five minutes of the second half would see Bridgewater push the lead to 20 on a trio of occasions and led 41-21 at the media timeout. A Huffard put-back and layup by Holden allowed Hollins to cut the deficit but Bridgewater scored late to make it a 19-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
  • The Eagle lead grew to 25 ahead of a jump shot by Morales. Shooting just 26.8% and losing the battle on the glass (52-33) would see Hollins fall for the second time this week against the ODAC's best, 55-33.
  • Holden led HU with 10 points, their only player in double figures. Morales had six points and six rebounds with Huffard adding five points and seven boards. Jacorra Russell led the team with eight rebounds and Carter picked up three steals.
