The Basics
Score:
 Hollins 0, Johnson & Wales 2
Records: Hollins 0-1 | Wildcats 2-1

The Lead: The Hollins soccer team opened the 2025 season on Sunday morning when they hosted Johnson & Wales. The two teams seemed destined for a scoreless first half, but a pass through the defense to an open attacker allowed the Wildcats to take a 1-0 lead into the break. Just about midway through the second half, The Wildcats made it 2-0 when their forward raced the keeper to a ball and scored. Hollins had two golden opportunities to score; however, a save and a shot that went just above the crossbar allowed the visitors to hold on for a 2-0 win.

Highlights
  • In a tightly contested first half, JWU got one on the board right before halftime. With 33 seconds on the clock, the Wildcats' Emily Spies sent a pass through the middle of the Hollins defense to Makayla Ball and Ball but the ball just past T Shover to make it 1-0.
  • At the 30-minute mark of the second half, Evelyn Keefer took the ball deep down the left side and sent a pass to Brooklyn Howard, but Howard was unable to win the one-on-one battle with the Wildcat keeper.
  • Minutes later Johnson & Wales made it 2-0 when they sent a pass into the box and beat the keeper to the ball.
  • With just over 10-minutes left to play, KJ Donlan got free in front of the JWU goal but sent a potential scoring shot just over the crossbar.
  • Howard and Izzy Workman each recorded two shots for the Green and Gold.
  • In net, Shover played all 90-minutes and made 10 stops.
