Â
The BasicsÂ
Score:Â Hollins 1 | Shenandoah 3
Records:Â Hollins 5-8 / 0-4 ODACÂ | Hornets 5-5 / 2-1 ODAC
The Lead:Â A trip to Shenandoah was on the schedule as Hollins completed a three match, Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), road swing. Having played in Harrisonburg less than 24 hours ago, the Green and Gold would have to overcome fatigue and the Hornets to claim their first ODAC win of the 2025 campaign. Hollins showed their weariness in falling behind 2-0. The third set would see Hollins show grit and determination to rally to win a marathon, 35-33. However, in the end, it would be the home team that would claim the win and move up in the ODAC standings.
HighlightsÂ
- Hollins fell on the road 17-25, 17-25, 35-33, 14-25.
- HU would take early leads in each of the first two frames only to see Hornet rallies.
- Hollins trailed 23-19 but used a 5-0 run to earn their first set point of the afternoon. Each team had opportunities to end the set but the score would be tied at 33-33. A service error and attack error by SU would allow Hollins to win their longest set of the season and cut the deficit to 2-1.
- The Hornets used an 11-5 net edge in the fourth to put the Hollins rally to bed on their way to a 3-1, ODAC, home win.
- Cassidy Henderson had 13 kills, two aces, and 13 digs. Sophia Maurer added eight kills, a pair of service aces, five blocks, and three assists.
- Rachel Hull led the team with 13 assists while Anisia Dean would add nine. Konner Myers once again paced the Green and Gold with 22 digs on the back row.
