The Lead:Â Hollins welcomed Patrick Henry College to campus on Saturday looking to win back-to-back matches for the first time since their 2-0 start to the 2024 season. The Green and Gold would enjoy possession of the ball throughout much of the afternoon, out-shooting Patrick Henry 45-4, 27-1 on goal. Hollins won for the second time this week as four different players scored in the 7-0 home win.
HighlightsÂ
- 20 minutes into the match, Izzy Workman took a feed from Evelyn Keefer to net her fourth goal in the past seven days. In a 15-minute span, first-year Valtinique Simmons scored a pair of goals to allow Hollins to take a 3-0 lead.
- Just before the halftime break, Brooklyn Howard scored her first goal of the season off a feed from Raynia Russell.
- Coming out of the break, Keefer got the ball at midfield, dribbled past two defenders and then faked the keeper and dribbled past her for an open net to make it 5-0.
- Keefer added her fourth score of the season when KJ Donlan centered a pass from the right side, and the sophomore sent a bending left-footed shot to the upper left corner of the goal. Hollins would be awarded a direct free kick just outside the box and Howard delivered her second career goal with a shot over the wall and beyond the reach of the Sentinel keeper.
- Keefer, Howard, and Simmons would score twice with Workman adding a goal in the 7-0 win. Evelin Lemus-Arriaga had seven of HU's shots on goal with Simmons recording six.
- Russell handed out her team leading fourth assist. Ava Rodgers, Jazmin Fitzgerald, Keefer, and Donlan each added a helper.
- T Shover started in goal before being relieved by Grace Glerum in the second half as the duo combined for Hollins second straight shutout.
Up Next: Hollins opens ODAC play on Wednesday with a trip to Bridgewater on the schedule. The match against the Eagles is scheduled to start at 4:00pm.
