The Lead: As the 2025 volleyball season approaches its conclusion, Hollins hosted Guilford and Johnson & Wales in a tri-match on the final weekend of the regular season. Against their Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rivals from Guilford, Hollins would see the Quakers take five of the final six points for a 1-0 lead. Guilford carried that momentum throughout the remainder of the match, as Hollins fell, 3-0. The Green and Gold used a 56-33 edge at the net to sweep the Wildcats and earn a split on the day.
Highlights:Â
- Hollins fell to Guilford 20-25, 15-25, 12-25.
- Prior to the match with the Quakers, Hollins took a chance to honor her two volleyball seniors Sophia Maurer and Dakota Webb-Hawkins.
- HU led 17-13 before a Guilford 6-0 run would flip the momentum. Guilford would take five of the final six points for a 1-0 lead. The Quakers started the second frame on a 9-1 surge and didn't look back in sweeping HU, 3-0.
- Maurer had 11 kills, an assist, and a service ace. Cassidy Henderson added seven kills with Alyssa Reed finishing with four. Breanna Anduiza handed out 25 assists and Norah Madrey served a pair of aces.
- Maurer had a solo block with Konner Myers leading the back line with 13 digs.
- HU defeated JWU 25-20, 25-15, 25-19.
- The Wildcats scored the first three points before seeing Hollins score the next six to take control. Thanks in part to 12 kills, Hollins was able to keep the lead throughout and a 1-0 lead. After rolling int eh second set, HU used an 11-5 start to the third on their way to a sweep of Johnson & Wales.
- Maurer and Reed led a balanced attack with seven kills apiece. Henderson had six with Madrey and Aliyah Lightsey recording five. Anduiza added 17 helpers and five aces while Rachel Hull added 14 assists.
- Madrey and Reed each recorded two blocks while Myers finished the match with 13 digs.
