The Basics

The Lead: The penultimate home match for the Hollins soccer team would see Roanoke college make the short trip to Berkley Field for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup. The Maroons scored on four of their 24 first half shots to take the lead into the break. Hollins got several good opportunities in the second half but could not cut into the deficit as Roanoke College picked up the ODAC win, 9-0.

Highlights 
  • Roanoke College got the afternoon's first score in the opening minutes of the match.
  • At about the 10-minute mark, Lida Krodel took a feed from Evelyn Keefer, but the shot was saved by the retreating Maroon keeper. Second later, Izzy Workman and Keefer each got off shots but the score remainder in favor of the visitors.
  • The final 20 plus minutes would see first-year Valtinique Simmons get a trio of good scoring chances but each time the Roanoke goalkeeper was able to get the ball out of the net. Krodel got one last chance; however Alexandra Laguna recorded her sixth save of the second half.
  • T Shover made eight stops before being relieved by Grace Glerum for the final 12 minutes.
Up Next: For the final time in 2025, Hollins will head out on the road on Saturday. HU faces Eastern Mennonite in Harrisonburg at 1:00pm on the 25th.
