The Lead:Â As the regular season begins to wind down, Hollins made the trip to Lexington to face Washington and Lee, marking the final regular season road trip this season for the Green and Gold. The home standing Generals would take an early edge with an opening set win, 25-16. HU led 15-13 in set two before a 9-0 run would put the Generals in control of the match on their way to a 3-0 win over Hollins.
HighlightsÂ
- Hollins fell to the Generals 16-25, 17-25, 13-25.
- Trailing 1-0, Hollins used back-to-back Alyssa Reed kills to take a 15-13 lead in the second frame. After the two teams traded points, Washington and Lee went on a 9-0 surge to take the set and a 2-0 advantage.
- During the match, the Generals used 44Â kills and six aces to pull away for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).
- Reed, Sophia Maurer, and Ivy Collins each recorded six kills. Maurer enjoyed an error free night, using 13 attacks for her six kills, good for a .462 hitting percentage. Breanna Anduiza handed out 14 assists to go with a trio of service aces. Rachel Hull added eight assists.
- Norah Madrey assisted on two of Hollins three blocks. On the back row, Konner Myers registered a match high 17 digs, giving the first-year 191 digs on the season.
Up Next: Hollins will be back in action when they defend home court against Randolph College next week. The match with the WildCats is scheduled for Wednesday, October 29
th at 6:30pm.
