The Lead: Wednesday would see a battle for positioning within the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) standings when Hollins made the trip to Danville to face Averett. The Cougars opened the scoring with two goals in a 1:30 span. Hollins would answer to make it 4-1, but Averett finished the first half on a 3-0 run to take the lead into the break. On the stat sheet, the Green and Gold played their hosts even in the second half, but Averett would notch their first conference win of the season, 12-1.

Highlights 

• Trailing 4-0, Hollins would cut into the deficit when Brooklyn Howard scored her third goal of the season.
• The first half would belong to the Cougars as they enjoyed 17-4 shot edge.
• In the second 45 minutes, the stats were virtually even. AU led in shots 11-10, however, for the match the home team enjoyed a 17-8 advantage in scoring chances.
• Izzy Workman, Evelyn Keefer, and Valtinique Simmons each registered three shots.
• In goal, T Shover got the start and recorded four saves before being relieved by Grace Glerum, who made one stop.
