The Lead:Â The Hollins soccer team returned home after splitting a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) road matches. The Green and Gold hosted Guilford, but it was the Quakers that raced out to a 2-0 halftime advantage. The visitors from Greensboro (N.C.) continued to apply pressure throughout the second 45 minutes of play and would go home with an 8-0, conference win, their first of the season.
HighlightsÂ
- The match remained scoreless until the 15-minute mark when a Quaker attacker dribbled around a pair of defenders and placed the ball in the net. A second Lily Brown score would make it 2-0 heading into the half.
- The sustained pressure of a Guilford 37-5 shot edge would allow the Quakers to pull away in the second half to secure the ODAC win.
- Evelyn Keefer attempted four shots, one on goal and Izzy Workman recorded the other Hollins scoring attempt.
- Defensively, the Hollins back line blocked four Guilford shots, two by Faith Falter. In goal, T Shover registered double digit saves for the fourth time this season when the senior recorded 11 stops.
Up Next: On Saturday Hollins welcomes Randolph College to campus for a 2:00pm start. Prior to the match, the HU soccer seniors will be honored for all they have done for the team, the University, and the campus community.
