The Lead: Hollins made the short trip to Ferrum to take on the Panthers on Wednesday night. The matchup would be for a spot in the top six of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) standings. Three ties and three lead changes would see Ferrum with the lead after the opening quarter. Hollins rallied after the media timeout to outscore the Panthers 6-2 to close the half with a 35-32 advantage.  HU found themselves in an eight-point hole before closing the third quarter on a 6-0 surge to bake it a one possession game. Ferrum used an 11-2 run in the fourth quarter to pull away for the 67-56 win.

Highlights
  • Hollins trailed to start the game but after a Cabria Mutz layup and free throw by Zaria Holden, HU was in front 7-5. The Panthers would retake the lead, but Hollins answered twice to tie the score, once on a Holden three and then after a Sarah Morales jumper. However, Ferrum would take the lead into the second frame, 20-16.
  • The Panthers led until the media timeout. Out of the break, Hollins got an Ariana Gutierrez three-pointer to take the lead. Mutz hit a turnaround jumper followed by a free throw by Noelani Carter to take a 35-32 lead at the half.
  • Ferrum came out hot to start the third quarter and after a 7-3 run, forced a Hollins timeout. Ferrum would grow their advantage to 50-42 at the third quarter media timeout. Free throws by Missy Hazard followed by hoops from Carter and Erin Allen would get Hollins to within 50-48.
  • Allen tied the game, 50-50, only to see Ferrum respond with an 11-2 run to take control. Hollins could not trim the deficit and fell to the Panthers 67-56.
  • Mutz finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots. Morales and Gutierrez each scored nine while Holden added seven. Morales grabbed a team high nine boards as she and Hazard each handed out a pair of assists.
