The Lead: The Hollins volleyball team was back in action on Saturday for the second, and final, day of the 2024 Maroon Classic. HU got started early when they took on Methodist at 10:00am. The Monarchs took the opening set, 25-14, and wouldn't let the Green and Gold in the match on their way to a 3-0 win. In the tournament finale, Hollin lost the first two sets but rallied to win the third and force set number four. Ultimately, HU was not able to complete the comeback and fell to the Spirits, 3-1.
Highlights: 
  • Hollins fell to Methodist 14-25, 17-25, 19-25.
  • After winning the first two points of the morning, Hollins would see Methodist score five in a row and 11 of the next 13 points to seize control.
  • Cassidy Henderson and Alyssa Reed each recorded four kills to lead HU at the net. Redd added four service aces with Peyton Bartholow adding three and Sophia Maurer finished with two.
  • Anisia Dean handed out 11 assists with Maurer leading the team in digs (six).
  • NC Wesleyan defeated Hollins 12-25, 22-25, 27-25, 17-25.
  • Hollins, trailing 0-2, found themselves down 24-23 in the third set. A pair of kills by Aliyah Lightesy and two service aces would propel Hollins into the fourth set.
  • Reed registered 11 more kills with Lightsey adding nine and Selena Wolfe contributing seven. Rachel Hull served up seven of HU's 19 aces while Maurer added five and Reed finished with four.
  • Dean handed out 32 assists with Reed (19) and Maurer (12) recording double-digit digs.
