The Lead: For the final time before the exam break, the Hollins basketball team took to her home court in a non-conference game against Regent University. It was Senior Night for a trio of Hollins players that helped to lay the foundation on which this historic start has been built. Kinzie Henninger, Cabria Mutz, and Moriah Hill were honored prior to the opening tip. After the festivities, Hollins wasted little time in seizing control of the game, building a 20-point halftime lead. The HU record improved to 7-1 after the 84-50 win.

Highlights
  • A pair of Mutz free throws and a three-pointer by Hill gave Hollins a lead that they would never relinquish. A Zaria Holden free throw pushed the lead to 10 and two Sarah Morales free throws made it 23-11 after one period of play.
  • Ariana Gutierrez hit a 3-pointer to start a second quarter that would see HU lead by as many as 20. Hill gave Hollins their first 20-point edge and an Erin Allen layup in the closing seconds made it 47-27 at the break.
  • With just less than four minutes on the clock, Mutz scored on the interior to push the advantage to 24, the same lead they would take into the finale.
  • Hill hit another from long range to push the lead to 30. Gutierrez connected from long range to give the home their largest lead of the night, 36.
  • Holden led all scorers with 15 points and added five rebounds and three assists. Mutz had another big outing with 13 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, three steals, and six blocked shots. Her 27 blocks are 4th in the nation while her 3.86 blocks per game rank 3rd.
  • Hill, Gutierrez, Missy Hazard, and Grayson Alfano combined to connect on 11 three-pointers as each would register nine points. Noelani Carter grabbed nine boards and handed out a game high six assists.
