The Lead: A week since their last match, the Hollins volleyball team took their home court when they took on Averett in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action. The Cougars took a lead into the closing stages of the first set before a Hollins rally closed the gap. The visitors from Danville would hold on for a 1-0 lead. After falling behind 0-2, Hollins would hold a set point in the third only to see the Cougars score three straight points to take the ODAC match, 3-0.
Highlights
- Hollins fell to Averett 19-25, 14-25, 24-26.
- A 6-0 run would tie the third frame at 10-10. After a Sophia Maurer kill and Averett service error, Hollins earned a set point at 24-23. A pair of Emma Nash kills, and a service ace would close out the match.
- The Green and Gold held their own at the net, led by 11 kills from Alyssa Reed. Maurer and Selena Wolfe added five kills apiece while Rachel Hull handed out 20 assists.
- Cassidy Henderson served four aces and Aliyah Lightsey added a pair of kills and a solo block. Reed (7) and Hull (6) led the back row in digs.
