The Basics

The Lead: For the second time this week the Hollins volleyball team played host to an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent when they welcomed the University of Lynchburg to campus for a Friday night match. The Hornets would use a big hitting edge, 25-11, in the first two sets to race out to a 2-0 lead.  In the third, Hollins rallied to make it 23-21 late, but Lynchburg would capture the final two points of the night for the ODAC win, 3-0.

Highlights 
  • Hollins fell to the Hornets 15-25, 15-25, 21-25.
  • Lynchburg led in kills, 34-25, and service aces, 14-6, to control the match for much of the evening.
  • Cassidy Henderson and Alyssa Reed led the HU attack with seven kills while Sophia Maurer added five. Reed (4) and Rachel Hull (2) combined for six service aces.
  • Hull assisted on 20 of the team's 25 net winners. Maurer (9) and Fin Bolt (7) paced the back row in digs with Maurer, Reed, and Sydney Mitchell each providing a block.
Up Next: Tomorrow wraps up a three-match week when HU plays host to Randolph College at 5:00pm.
