The Lead: Hollins hit the road for a rematch with Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Green and Gold in overtime earlier this season as Hollins went to try to turn the tables in Ashland. HU found themselves in a 27-16 hole at the half and down 11 heading into the fourth quarter. Hollins rallied to tie the score late but RMC scored the game's final three points to hold on for the 49-46 conference win.

Highlights 
  • Cabria Mutz scored to open the game but Randolph-Macon responded with a 10-0 run to take control. Erin Allen stopped the run then five straight by Zaria Holden made it 10-9 after 10-minutes of play.
  • The Jackets opened the second with an 8-0 surge to reclaim the momentum. Missy Hazard hit a three-pointer to make it 18-12. When the deficit grew to 10, Hazard scored a jumper followed by a Mutz hoop to cut into the RMC advantage. However, and 3-pointer and pair of free throws would put the home team in front 27-16 at the half.
  • Noelani Carter started 7-0 start to the second half and when Mutz hit a pair of free throws, HU was within 27-23. In the final minute, the Yellow Jackets enjoyed their largest lead of the afternoon and after a Destiny Hoover free throw the two ODAC foes had played the quarter to a 13-13 draw.
  • Moriah Hill started the final period with a three-pointer. Down eight, HU mounted a rally. Mutz started the comeback with a three-point play followed by Hoover free throws, and back-to-back Holden buckets. Sarah Morales tied the game at 44-44 with a free throw at the midway point of the quarter. After Macon went back in front, Holden tied the game once again. With 2:00 to play, RMC took the lead and Hollins would come up empty on three consecutive possessions as Randolph-Macon held on the for 49-46 win.
  • Holden scored 14 to go with six rebounds while Mutz added nine points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocked shots. Hoover came off the bench to score seven as the Hollins reserves would best the Jackets bench 24-3.
Up Next: Hollins continues on the road with a trip to face Guilford on Wednesday night.
