The Lead: Roanoke College made the short trip on Interstate 81 to face Hollins in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on Wednesday night. The Maroons controlled much of the first half, taking a 29-22 lead into the break. The third quarter would see a Hollins rally to make it a one-point game going into the fourth. Roanoke dominated the final frame to pull away for the 66-48 ODAC win.

Highlights
  • Neither team could find the range early with HU holding a 6-5 lead at the media timeout. Sarah Morales hit a pair of free throws to tie the score at 8-8 before the visitors closed the quarter on a 6-0 run.
  • The Maroons grew their lead to 11 ahead of a pair of Destiny Hoover free throws. Cabria Mutz scored and then Morales hit a three to make it 20-15 midway through the period. The deficit would go back to nine when Mutz scored a layup to make it 29-22 at the half.
  • Back-to-back Mutz hoops cut the RC lead to four. Down nine, Morales scored eight consecutive points, 13 in the quarter, to make it 43-42 heading into the fourth quarter.
  • A three-pointer by Iyana Sigei tied the score at 45-45. In what proved to be the turning point in the game, Noelani Carter appeared to score and be fouled but was called for a travel prior to the contact and Roanoke took over from there. The final 6:59 of the contest would see the Maroons close the game on a 17-3 run to claim the ODAC win.
  • Morales scored a season and career high 21 points to go with five rebounds, two blocks, two assists, and a steal. Mutz recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards while Carter grabbed nine rebounds. Carter (3) and Hoover (4) handed out seven to HU's 14 assists.
