The Lead: Hollins played host to Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) leading Washington and Lee on Wednesday night. The top ranked Generals jumped out to a 21-10, first quarter lead. The advantage would grow to 16 at the break and in the end, W&L stayed atop the ODAC standings with an 86-43 victory.
Highlights:
  • A three-pointer by Moriah Hill and layup for Cabria Mutz staked Hollins to an early 5-2 lead. The advantage stayed at three with a Noelani Carter layup. However, the Generals would close the quarter on a 17-3 surge to take control of the matchup.
  • With 2:49 left before the half, an Ariana Gutierrez three pointer cut the deficit to 16, and the game would go into the break with Washington and Lee leading 41-25.
  • Rebekah Funderburk stopped another General surge with a jump shot but the visitors rattled off 11 straight points to put the game out of reach.

  • Mutz had 12 points and eight rebounds. With two more blocked shots, the sophomore tied the single season Hollins block record with 59 on the season. Carter added six points, seven boards, three steals, and handed out a game high six assists.
  • 15 of the 16 Washington and Lee players would score, led by 13 from Elka Prechel and Sofia Feigelson.
