The Lead: For the final time before the exam break, Hollins took the court when they welcomed Guilford to town for a Wednesday night Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) showdown. The Quakers broke open a close game and took a 28-16 lead into the locker room. The lead would grow to 23 with just over seven minutes left to play. HU closed the game on a 27-13 surge but the time would expire with Guilford taking the ODAC win, 66-57.

Highlights
  • Cabria Mutz started the night by scoring the first hoop of the game. Guilford built the lead before Zaria Holden hit a jump shot to make it 5-4. 8-3 would be the Guilford run to close the first quarter.
  • The lead would grow into double digits before Noelani Carter scored three points for HU to cut the deficit to nine. However, despite a 3-0 run to close, Hollins would trail 28-16 at the break.
  • Down 12, Sarah Morales' old fashion three-point play would once again make it a nine-point spread. An 11-point run by the visitors gave them a 20-point lead late in the third period.
  • The largest lead of the game, 24, would see Hollins in a hole with 6:00 left on the clock. Holden scored followed by five straight by Morales as the Green and Gold began to mount a rally. A pair of Holden free throws cut the lead to 12 but the Quakers would answer. The closing seconds would see an Erin Allen three-point play followed by a layup by Iyana Sigei to make the final 66-57.
  • Hollins once again struggled from the field, shooting 18.5% during the first 20 minutes of play. I the second half, HU went 13-39 during the second half but only posted 27.3% for the game.
  • Morales had 14 points, five rebounds, and seven steals while Mutz finished with eight and eight boards. Carter added seven points, eight rebounds, and five steals.
Up Next: Hollins will be back in action prior to the New Year when they make the short trip to Salem to play in the Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic, hosted by Roanoke College, December 29-30.
