Records: Hollins 1-8 / 0-5 ODAC | Maroons 7-2-3 / 5-0-1 ODAC

The Lead: Hollins hosted their neighbors to the south on Saturday afternoon. Roanoke College made the short trip on Interstate 81 and brought their unbeaten Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) record into the matchup. The Green and Gold kept their guests off the board for the opening 20 minutes of play. However, the Maroons found their footing and broke through for seven, first half, scores to seize control and picked up the conference win.
Highlights
  • Right about the 20-minute mark would see Roanoke start a run of scores over the final 25 minutes of the first half to take a 7-0 lead into the break.
  • After an early goal in the second half, Hollins would hole Roanoke scoreless for 20 minutes but couldn't crack the Maroons defense to put a shot into the back of the net.
  • Hollins' best opportunity came in the closing minutes when Hayley Ponn got a shot one from straight away, but the Maroons keeper was able to make the stop.
  • Ponn, Izzy Workman, and Grace Glerum led Hollins in shots. Cat Bussani got the start in goal, recording eight saves, before being pulled for Zoe Baxter. Baxter finished the final 26+ minutes, giving up just one goal and recording a save.
Up Next: The schedule gets no easier as Hollins will face-off with Washington and Lee on Wednesday afternoon. The Generals have yet to taste defeat this season.
