The Lead: The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) leading Generals of Washington and Lee came to Hollins on Wednesday afternoon. W&L came into the matchup having yet to taste defeat in 2023 and sitting atop the conference standings. A pair of quick scores gave the visitors an advantage they would enjoy throughout on their way to their fourth ODAC win of the season.
Highlights
  • The Generals would score twice in less than a one-minute span (4:49 and 5:34) to take advantage of the match.
  • The road team would fire off 28 first half shots and take a 4-0 edge into the break.
  • Out of the half, Hollins got her best scoring chance of the afternoon, but the Anna Starman shot to the middle of the goal was saved by Abby Groff.
  • Hollins stayed in the contest as long as they could thanks in part to 13 saves by Cat Bussani during the first 45-minutes of play.
  • W&L scored less than two minutes into the second half as they began to use their deep and talented bench to keep fresh legs in the game.
  • Bussani recorded 18 saves before being relieved by Zoe Baxter with just over 22 minutes remaining on the clock. Baxter added a pair of saves, giving the Green and Gold 20 for the match.
Up Next: Hollins will be back in ODAC action on Saturday when they make the trip to Winchester to face Shenandoah.
