The Lead: For the final time this regular season, Hollins would face Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) competition when they made the trip to Averett on Tuesday night. The Hollins campus was closed for their annual Tinker Day celebration as the volleyball team took to the road one last time in 2023. The Cougars wasted no time in jumping on their visitors from Roanoke as Averett raced out to a 14-5 advantage and held in throughout the matchup, picking up the ODAC win, 3-0.

Highlights 

• Hollins fell to the Cougars: 10-25, 12-25, 13-25. 
• Averett took the first four points on their way to a 14-5 lead, taking the opening set.
• Hollins could manage only four kills in a second set that would see the home team take a 2-0 lead.
• Averett took a 4-0 lead to start the third, but an HU rally would tie the score at 10-10. The Cougars would put the match away with an 8-0 surge that ended any hopes of a Hollins comeback.
• Faith Schaefer, Cassidy Henderson, and Alana Joyner would each record here kills. Jaelyn Werley assisted on 12 of Hollins' 14 kills while registering a team high five digs. Sophia Maurer added a service ace to her ODAC leading total.
