Records: Hollins 1-12 / 0-9 ODAC | WildCats 8-6-1 / 2-5-1 ODAC

The Lead: Saturday would mark the end of the home portion of the 2023 Hollins soccer schedule. Prior to the opening kick with Randolph College, Hollins took a moment to honor her four seniors. Tate Hurley, Cady Gardiner-Parks, Sophia Ciatti, and Cat Bussani were suiting up for the home fans for the final time during their soccer careers. After the ceremony, the WildCats would control the action for much of the afternoon on their way to a 6-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory.
Highlights
  • The HU defense was on display for most of the first half as the Green and Gold would face 13 shots on goal during the opening half. Bussani recorded 11 saves as Randolph took a 2-0 lead into the break.
  • The defense led by Hurley and Ciatti would face a total of 46 shots, 24 on target, and held their own throughout the matchup.
  • Trailing 3-0 with 22 minutes left to play, Ciatti took the ball at midfield and beat the defense down the left side to set up a one-on-one with the Randolph keeper. The Ciatta shot was on target, but Abby Gilbert was able to make the save and keep Hollins off the board.
  • Eventually the HU defense wore down as the WildCats picked up the conference win, 6-0.
  • Bussani added 18 saves to her season and career total.
Up Next: Hollins wraps up the regular season next Saturday with a trip to Virginia Beach to face Virginia Wesleyan.
