The Lead: Bridgewater College came to Roanoke with their 11-2 overall record for a game on Saturday afternoon. Hollins started hot, earning an 8-5 lead and forcing an Eagle timeout. However, BC used an 18-5 run to close the first quarter and seize control of the matchup. In the end, Bridgewater picked up their 12th win of the season with an 84-53, conference, win.   Â
Highlights:
- Bridgewater hit a three and raced out to a 5-3 lead. Noelani Carter scored to tie the game and after a three-pointer by Ariana Gutierrez, the Hollins lead was 8-5, and Bridgewater took a timeout.
- The Eagles came out of the timeout and started a run that would see the Eagles take a 23-13 lead after one quarter of play.
- The Bridgewater surge would continue and other than a Rebekah Funderburk jump shot along with a Cabria Mutz bucket, the Eagles took the second frame, 22-4.
-  Carter kicked off the third quarter with a three-point play. BC pushed their advantage to 36 points before free throws by Moriah Hill and Carter would get Hollins closer as the Eagles took the period 20-18.Â
- The fourth quarter would be played even as Bridgewater took the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup, 84-53.
- Carter (12), Hill (11), Funderburk (11), and Mutz (10) led Hollins in scoring. Mutz added nine rebounds and five blocked shots while Carter pulled down six boards. Funderburk handed out three assists to go with her five rebounds.
- Erika Nettles led all scorers with 15 and Bridgewater would see three others in double figures.
Up Next: Next up for Hollins is a trip to Lynchburg to face Randolph College on Wednesday night. The game with the WildCats is scheduled to tip at 5:00pm.
