Hollins Earns Second ODAC Road Win in Less Than 24 Hours; Host Guilford in ODAC Tournament on Tuesday

The Lead: Hollins earned its second ODAC road win in less than 24 hours topping Bridgewater 48-46. The win also secured the No. 8 seed for HU in the 2022 ODAC Tournament. Hollins will host No. 9 Guilford at 7:00 p.m.
 
Highlights:
  • Kayla Surles led Hollins with 13 points, while Keenan Surles came off the bench to knock down four, key three-pointers to give her 12 points in the win. Tia Tucker added 11 points and a team-best six rebounds.
  • Hollins scored the first seven points of the game as a Kayla Surles three-pointer made it 7-0 less than three minutes in, but BC outscored HU 13-4 over the final six minutes of the quarter.
  • Bridgewater led 27-24 at halftime before HU would come out and score seven of the first 11 points of the second half, tying the game 31-31 on a jumper by Tucker.
  • The lead would change hands five times over the course of the final six minutes of the quarter with back-to-back baskets by the Eagles giving them a 39-36 lead heading into the final quarter.
  • The Hollins defense held BC to 1-of-14 shooting in the fourth quarter with that only made field goal coming as time expired.
  • Bridgewater led 42-41 with 2:43 when Tucker converted a three-point play to give HU the lead for good.
  • A Keenan Surles three-pointer with 1:42 on the clock, extended the Hollins lead to 45-41 and sealed the win for HU.
Up Next: Hollins will host Guilford at 7:00 p.m. in the first round of the 2022 ODAC Tournament.
