Big Second Half Sends Hollins to Season Sweep of Eastern Mennonite

The Lead: Hollins outscored Eastern Mennonite 40-15 in the second-half to earn a 62-45 ODAC road win and a season sweep of the Royals. HU also records it sixth ODAC win of the season which is the most since the team won seven in 2003.  
 
Highlights:
  • Kayla Surles led four Hollins players in double-figures with 16 points in the win. Tia Tucker recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Cabria Mutz had 11 points and Rebekah Funderburk had a career-high 10 points. Xavia Hahn chipped in with eight points as well.
  • EMU's Constance Komara knocked down a three-pointer in the final seconds to cap a back and forth first quarter and give the Royals a slim 11-10 lead.
  • With the game tied 15-15, EMU used a 7-0 run to open a lead and would eventually take a 30-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • HU came out in the second half and scored the first 12 points, taking a 34-30 lead on Tucker jumper.
  • EMU responded by outscoring HU 11-5 over the final six minutes of the quarter to head to the fourth up 41-39.
  • Hollins stormed ahead in the fourth quarter, using a 12-0 run that was capped by a pair of Surles free-throws to put HU in front 51-41 with just over five minutes to play in the game.
  • After a basket by EMU broke the run, HU would go on to score 11 of the last 13 points of the game to seal the win.
  • HU was 16-of-30 from the field in the second-half, while it held EMU to just six made field goals during that time.
