HU Drops a Pair of Matches at Opening Day of Maroon Classic

The Lead: The Hollins Volleyball team opened the first day of the Maroon Classic on Saturday in Salem, Va. 

Highlights 

  • HU lost to Mary Baldwin by game scores of 25-13, 25-8, 25-15. 
  • The Fighting Squirrels hit .343 for the match, collecting 31 kills on 70 attempts and were able to capitalize on 20 hitting errors by the Green and Gold.  
  • Hollins was led by Deanna Kee who had five kills. Leslie Walker and Selena Wolfe had four kills each for HU as well. Hannah Crum and Zoe Brooks had seven and six assists, respectively in the loss.  
  • In the loss to the Battle Bishops, HU dropped the three games by the scores of 25-14, 25-20 and 25-12. 
  • Wolfe led HU with a team-high eight kills and Tyler Sesker chipped in with three kills of her own. Crum dished five assists and Brooks added four.  
  • Defensively, Bella Brown had 13 digs for the Green and Gold, while Kee finished with three total blocks in addition to a pair of blocks from Walker.  

Up Next: Hollins is back in action Saturday at the Maroon Invitational. HU will play Greensboro at Noon and Methodist at 2:00 p.m.
