The Lead:  Hollins University ran its winning streak to five games as it topped visiting Trinity (D.C.) 90-32 Tuesday afternoon in women's basketball action.

Highlights
  • Tia Tucker and Unoma Aguolu each had 25 points in the win. Tucker was 10-of-11 from the floor en route to her career-high in points, while Aguolu grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
  • Kayla Surles had 14 points and dished out a school record 12 assists in the victory. Surles breaks the record previously held by Kelly Maxey who had 11 assists against Warren Wilson in 2013.
  • Jalaya Duarte had 10 points and had seven rebounds, while Xavia Hahn came off the bench to score nine points and tie Aguolu for the team lead with eight boards
  • The score was 16-12 HU late in the first quarter, but the Green and Gold went on a 9-0 run with a Tucker half-court shot at the buzzer making it a 25-12 game after the first 10 minutes of play.
  • A 12-2 run HU run capped by a Aguolu bucket made the score 39-19 with just under three minutes to play and the half.
  • HU would hold a 45-20 advantage at halftime and stretched its lead to as many as 38 in the third quarter as it outscored Trinity 21-8.
  • The fourth quarter was much of the same as HU shot 11-of-17 in the final frame, opening up a 58 point lead in the final minute of the contest.
  • For the game, HU shot 39-of-75 (52.0%), while holding TU to just 23.6% on 13-of-55 shooting from the floor.
  • Taryn Yancey and Diamon Lewis each had eight points for Trinity in the loss.
 
Up Next: Hollins will be off until December 1 when it travels to nearby Roanoke for a 7:30 p.m. ODAC game with the Maroons.
