Hollins Gets Upended by Guilford on Wednesday

The Lead: Guilford earned a hard fought 3-0 win over Hollins Wednesday night in ODAC Volleyball. 
  
Highlights  

  • Tyler Sesker had seven kills and Kenna Esquibel and Selena Wolfe each had six for Hollins. Zoe Brooks had a pair of aces to go along with her team-leading 12 assists.   
  • Esquibel paced the defense with a team-high 13 digs, while Hannah Crum had eight stops to go along with seven assists.   
  • Kaitlyn Kelly led Guilford with 11 kills and Maddi Page dished out a match-high 26 assists.   
  • In game one, a kill by Wolfe made it 8-4 Hollins. Guilford then reeled off six straight points to make it 10-8 Quakers.  
  • With the score 16-15 in favor of GC, Hollins scored three of the next four rpoints, taking an 18-17 advantage on an error by Guilford. A Hannah Stout kill sparked an 8-2 for GC to close out the set and give them a 1-0 lead in the match.  
  • The score was 7-4 Guilford early in the second set when GC went on an 8-0 run to go up 15-4. HU battled back, scoring nine of the next 12 points behind kills from Wolfe, Deanna Kee, Bella Brown and Brooks.  
  • Guilford would score six of the next eight points to go back up 24-15. HU got a kill from Wolfe and error by GC made it 24-17, but a service error gave Guilford the set and a 2-0 lead in the match.  
  • An ace by Crum made the score 10-5 Guilford in the third set before the Quakers went on a 7-2 run to take a 17-7 lead.  
  • The Green and Gold again fought back with four unanswered points, including back-to-back kills by Sesker to make it 17-11. Hollins was able to cut the lead to 24-19 but Guilford recorded a kill out of a timeout to close out the match.   

Up Next: Hollins will host St. Augustine's at Noon on Saturday and then will take on Trinity (D.C.) at 4:00 p.m.
