Event: Tennis - Hollins at Southern Virginia (Buena Vista, VA)

The lead: The Hollins tennis team took the court for the first time this spring when they traveled to Southern Virginia on Tuesday afternoon. The new look squad features three newcomers to go with a trio of returning players.

The result: Southern Virginia 9-0

How it happened: The Knights raced out to a 3-0lead after the doubles mataches. The #2 doubles team of Valerie Sargeant and Sarah Jordan Snoddy put up a good fight before falling 2-8 in their first match as duo. In singles action, Sargeant (#2) and Kateri Johnson (#1) had the team's best showing. Johnson fell 2 and 3 while Sargeant rallied in her second set, but fell 6-2.

What's next: Hollins is scheduled to host four consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matches, the first, a visit from Guilford College on friday afternoon. The match with the Quakers is scheduled to begin at 2:00pm.
