The Lead: The Hollins University tennis team played host to Bridgewater in their penultimate Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) home match of the 2026 season. The Eagles and Hollins each came into the matchup looking to pick up the ODAC win to pass the other in the conference standings. The task proved to be an uphill climb for a Hollins squad playing down a player and Bridgewater was able to take a 1-0 edge after doubles play. In singles play, the Eagles would continue to wear down their shorthanded hosts and pick up the ODAC victory, 7-0.

Highlights:

• Playing as a duo for the first time this season, Rachel Hull and Anna Starman raced out to a 2-1 lead at the top doubles spot, only to see the visitors from Bridgewater rally to take the set 6-3.
• Hull continued to battle back and forth at the top singles position, trailing 5-0, the sophomore won back-to-back games to get back in the match before eventually falling 6-2 and 6-1.
• Starman took three games in the first set at #3 singles as did first year Jade Thompson at the five spot. Neither would be able to rally falling by the score of 6-3 and 6-0.

Up Next: Hollins defends her home courts at the Batten Tennis Center for the final time on Saturday. Guilford College will face the Green and Gold at noon in HU's final ODAC home match of the season.
