Hollins Competes At ITA Regionals

After opening the fall tennis season at Bluefield last weekend, Hollins traveled tot he campus of Mary Washington to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament.  Three Hollins players competed in the three day, 12 draw event.

Competing in the Championship Singles draw, senior Victoria Coffee (Plano, TX) advanced to the round of 32.  Coffee won her first match of the tournament, and straight set (6-1, 6-1) victory over Shannon Ramsey from St. Mary's College.  In her next match, Coffee was upended by Megumi Chen of Johns Hopkins University.  Chen was one of the top seeds in the 64 player draw.  In the Championship Doubles draw, Coffee and partner Tiffany Hodges (Vinton, VA) fell to the #1 ranked team of Patricia Kirkland and Sonja Meighan of Washington and Lee.

Hollins will wrap up their fall season in two weeks when they travel to North Carolina.  Hollins will compete in the Methodist University Fall Invitational on October 4th and 5th.
