Sarah Root is in her first year as an assistant coach for the Hollins volleyball program.
Root played volleyball at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on a full athletic scholarship from 2016 to 2020. After graduating early in December of 2019 with a degree in Marketing, she took post-graduate classes to remain eligible for the Moc’s inaugural beach volleyball season in the spring of 2020.
While at Chattanooga, Sarah was awarded the honor of serving as team captain and appeared in all 30 matches her senior year. She finished fourth on the team with 294 career kills and racked up 109 career blocks. Sarah notched her single game career high against Georgia State with 16 kills and 6 blocks. Off the court at UTC, Root received Athletic Directors honor roll, Southern Conference (SOCON) Academic Honor roll, and Deans list every semester. Sarah has coached numerous camps and travel teams throughout her time in Chattanooga, and is excited to be back on the court in a coaching capacity.
Prior to Sarah’s collegiate career, she attended Woodgrove High School in Loudoun County, Virginia where she led the Wolverines in kills and blocks. She was team captain and received all-conference and all-region selections her senior year.
Outside of coaching, Sarah works as a full-time Content Creation Specialist for a financial institution.
